When I attended the Top Model contest, one of the Miss World events held at Trident on 24 May, I found the presence and poise of Miss Thailand, Opal Suchata Chuangsri, to stand out. The deeper, more soulful side of beauty contests is how they create new brand ambassadors. With the world’s attention now on her, she can bring important causes close to her heart to the forefront — raising awareness and opening doors for fundraising– in this case, Breast Cancer Awareness. It works brilliantly.
I’m glad she won Miss World!
In response to the question, “What would you do if you were the Miss World?” she replied, “I always believe that no matter who you are, no matter what you do and no matter where you’re from in your life, there is always someone next to you — whether it’s a child, whether it’s an adult, it could even be your own parents — that look up to you. And people listen to you and watch you with their graceful eyes. So be the one to inspire the world.” What a meaningful message for all of us from a beautiful messenger.
