Why do we all feel so stressed? Because we live in a VUCA world

In my last post, I introduced the Dialectic on how the world evolves from a thesis (the order we assumed was stable), to an antithesis (the pushback and new forces challenging it), and finally to a synthesis (a new, rebalanced order that emerges).

When a world order moves through this transition, it doesn’t change quietly. It creates turbulence that we feel in everyday decisions, from careers to mobility to family plans. And that is what many of us are feeling right now.

Students are rethinking countries and courses. Professionals are questioning career moves. Families are pausing big decisions. Companies are recalibrating hiring and expansion.

Everyone is asking the same questions in different words:
Why does planning feel harder?
Why do the rules keep changing?
Why does the future feel less predictable even when you are doing everything right?
That feeling has a name.

It’s called VUCA which stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity.

VUCA explains why the world feels turbulent and why the stress many people feel is not irrational. It is often a realistic response to an environment that has genuinely become harder to read. Certainty that we are all used to – is history.

In this post, I’ll explain what VUCA really means in the Global Indian world and how to think clearly inside it.
