Piyush Pandey

Met Piyush Pandey, the legendary adman at a learning event recently and here are some takeaways

Showing examples of, (no points for guessing) : Fevicol (Fevicol ka jod hai, tootega nahi) Asian Paints (Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai), Cadburys (For all occasions), he demonstrated how a good brand is constant and changing and what a waste of money it would be to abandon what worked.

He cited “Just do it” ad by Nike which is still in use today.

Other good insights:
· Be known as “I am a generous brand”
· A brand is about belief and trust
· Brands are made in the hearts

Piyush’s recognizable moustache makes him a standout figure. It got me thinking about personal branding. How does one truly stand out?

Is it about spending 40 years with one company, doing the same thing with the same passion as day one, while maintaining a consistent look?

When I travel – I always my Stetson hat. It’s become a core part of my identity and I feel odd and incomplete without it. What’s your personal style? What makes you stand out?
