To leave your routine and your desk and answer a greater call—one of responsibility to our society and heritage?
What if, instead of just complaining about neglect and disrepair, you took action?
What if you took a chance to tell a story that needed to be said and sent in a nomination to save an architectural gem before it was too late?
All just because you didn’t want to die with the guilt that you just complained and didn’t do anything about it.
That’s when I went to our old city, rolled up my sleeves and took the photos for our nomination.
Today, I’m proud to share that the World Monuments Fund (WMF) has honoured our nomination for Hyderabad’s Musi Riverfront with global recognition as part of the 2025 World Monuments Watch. Selected from over 200 nominations worldwide, this prestigious designation places Hyderabad’s heritage conservation and urban transformation efforts on the global stage.
I am so glad we took that chance.
An unlikely and unassuming trio—Shalini Bhupal, Anuradha Naik, and I—made it happen! This is just the beginning, and the best is yet to come.
Together, we aim to:
• Raise awareness about the importance of Hyderabad’s heritage.
• Influence tourism, conservation, and policymaking in Telangana.
• Strengthen the WMF’s presence in India and globally.
• Build momentum for future initiatives, including potential UNESCO recognition.
Let’s continue to tell Hyderabad’s story, restore its pride, and honour the heritage that makes it truly unique.
