Making Sense of Our World

MAKING SENSE OF OUR WORLD – Sankranthi: A Day of Transition (and a world in transition)

Hope your Sankranthi holiday went well.

Sankranthi meaning ‘transition’ holds a particular significance this year.

As the CEO of Y-Axis—and as the author behind The Global Indian—I spend a lot of time trying to make sense of the world we live and work in, from the front lines of people making life-changing decisions.

Every week, I see it up close:

· students rethinking countries and courses
· professionals questioning career paths
· families pausing big moves
· companies recalibrating hiring, mobility, and risk

Plans keep changing because the rules keep changing.

To make sense of this, I find two frameworks incredibly useful:

  1. Dialectic — Thesis → Antithesis → Synthesis
A system rises, meets contradictions, and reforms into a new order.
  2. VUCA — why today’s world feels volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous

In this series, I’ll use these lenses to map what’s happening—without pretending to predict everything.

Next post: What is a Dialectic anyway—and how does it shape the world of the Global Indian?
